Thinkverse in Action: Results from piloting our AI Teaching Assistant
At Thinkverse, we believe in placing teachers and students first.
Through our Teacher Ambassador program, we have partnered with over 100 teachers in the United States. Our team is passionate about the most salient problems facing everyday teachers, and exploring ways that our platform can address them.
Our Pilot
This summer, we completed a robust pilot with Ednovate Schools. Mr. Michael Gorse at Esperanza College Prep received access to our AI Teaching Assistant, which provides seamless lesson planning and assignment generation. Simultaneously, all 90 students in Mr. Gorse’s Algebra 1 classroom received access to our AI tutor.
Through a span of six classes over two months, we observed teacher and student engagement with Thinkverse across a variety of Algebra 1 topics, including quadratic equations, rational and irrational numbers, and writing linear functions.
Two assessments were used to gauge students’ baseline and post-Thinkverse performance, respectively. These assessments were administered at the beginning and end of each class.

How did we do?
Students who spent just 15 minutes on Thinkverse achieved a 30% gain in math proficiency, with proficiency scores increasing after every session with Thinkverse.
Students have also reported a 20% increase in confidence, particularly highlighting our AI tutor’s step-by-step guidance, in-depth explanations, and encouragement that were integral in their learning.
Thinkverse also helped teachers reduce their workload, while providing greater personalized support for their students.
According to Mr. Gorse: "In my classroom, Thinkverse helped students build their math persistence and confidence, particularly in learning how to ask questions and in becoming more independent learners. Thinkverse also allowed students to scaffold for themselves, providing definitions and step-by-step guidance when needed."

What’s next?
Our pilot taught us some invaluable lessons that we will incorporate into future releases.
Customizable Questions. Thinkverse provides a robust question bank with pre-built assignments available for teachers to use out-of-the-box. Our questions span three levels of difficulty - easy, medium, and hard. Based on teacher feedback, we are making enhancements to our interface that will make it easier to auto-generate sessions with specific levels of difficulty, shuffle individual questions, and dynamically present follow-up questions based on student proficiency.
Slow Removal of Support. Teachers tend to provide more support in earlier lessons, and remove scaffolding provided in later lessons. Our AI tutor will be programmed to slowly remove support to students, and ask more Socratic questions (e.g., “What do you think the first step should be?”) instead. Teachers will also be able to select their desired level of scaffolding to test proficiency prior to the conclusion of a module.
Actionable Analytics. Our pilot studies have shown us how teachers manage multiple tasks in any given moment during class. Our new analytics dashboard will provide teachers with digestible, real-time information that pinpoint students who need the most support. Some examples include identifying students who are stuck or idle in the tool, or students who might be guessing throughout the session. Teachers will be able to use this information to provide the right interventions in class.
Our goal has always been to co-create our learning platform with direct feedback from teachers and students, and we are excited to continue partnering with our Ambassadors toward our future releases!
About Thinkverse
Thinkverse is an AI teaching assistant focused on 4th-12th grade math. Our AI-powered platform allows educators to tap into a robust repository of Common Core-aligned assignments, or create their own problems. Our goal is to personalize learning so that learners can move at their own pace, be guided step-by-step, and navigate math problems with the assistance of AI.
