How it works

How the AI tutor teaches, and how we keep your child safe.

The tutor deliberately doesn't give answers. It works up through hints: first pointing your child's attention at the right spot, then asking a smaller question, then explaining the rule — and if all else fails, working a similar example with different numbers. The final answer stays your child's to reach, even if they ask for it outright.

This surprises families at first — it can look like the tutor is being unhelpful. It isn't. A child who asks for a hint and then works the step has done the learning; a child handed the answer hasn't.

Two things help at home:

  • Encourage asking. Help requests aren't penalized anywhere, and the tutor gets less forthcoming with children who spam for answers, so "just ask it properly" is genuinely the best strategy.
  • Encourage showing work. The tutor watches the whiteboard and responds to what's written there — it can even circle the exact spot where a step went wrong.

Thinkverse supports more than 100 languages, including Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole, so your child can work through math in the language they think in.

Thinkverse is built against COPPA and FERPA guidelines.

Conversations are moderated

Everything your child says to the tutor passes through safety moderation:

  • If your child is repeatedly disrespectful, the tutor warns them on screen that the conversation has been reported.
  • For anything concerning — inappropriate language, or signs of distress — you get an email alert directly, so nothing serious waits for you to check a dashboard.

Who sees the data

We publish the complete list of third parties that touch data, and what each is used for, on our subprocessors page — including the AI providers behind the tutor. The Privacy Policy covers what we collect and why.
